Dr Fatima Abubakre is a Lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication with specialisation in journalism, media sociology and critical media analysis. She has experience in both newsroom practice and administrative roles, which provides her with a distinctive lens through which to engage with teaching and research. Her research focuses on themes such as media representations of marginalized groups, gender and religion in media narratives, media ethics, and the impact of digital platforms on journalism and public opinion. She has published in peer-reviewed journals, presented at conferences and contributes to critical conversations in the field of media and communication studies.
